Jessie's Solar Bag for Elle Magazine

Category: Charity, News, Press

This Spring, Jessie participated in a special charity project for Elle Magazine along with seven other designers, creating a one-of-a kind solar-powered hand bag.  Each bag features a flexible solar panel, an HBLED light, a rechargeable battery pack, and a USB port that can actually keep your cell phone charged.  The bags were produced in a collaboration with Portable Light Project, a non-profit initiative that provides solar textile kits to empower those who do not have access to electricity.  All eight bags are up for auction right now, with all of the proceeds going to the Portable Light Project.  Click here to bid on Jessie's bag and other great designs from Vena Cava, Diane von Furstenberg, and Maria Cornejo.

The Portable Light team works with non-governmental organizations to train women on integrating solar technology into local textile materials, producing a range of products the generate clean, sustainable enery and light, while supporting local economies.  To find out more about the project, please visit Elle.com or portablelight.org.

Jessie's Fashion Night Out at BG

Category: Charity, Events, Press

The LR girls (and the newest addition to the LR family, my business partner Amanda's adorable daughter Mabel) headed uptown to Bergdorf Goodman last night to shop, mingle, sign t-shirts for charity and have fun.

This is a shot of me signing t-shirts in my new LR draped leather jacket that I am loving right now. It's available here. I got lots of compliments on it last night!

One of the highlights of the night was chatting with fellow shoe designers Stuart Weitzman and Giuseppe Zanotti. I admire both of them and their work so much. In fact, my favorite vintage shoe line of all time is a line Stuart designed decades ago for his father's company called "Stuart Weitzman for Mr. Seymour."  If you ever see a pair of these on ebay, snag them! They are priceless.

And here's my favorite photo of the night, a shot of little Mabel playing with  some pumps from the Bergdorf Goodman Loeffler Randall shoe display. The shoe obsession thing starts early....

xo,
Jessie

Giving Back

Category: Charity, News

A portion of the proceeds from all sales on our website from our launch through October 1, 2009 will be donated to Living India. Living India is a charity that is close to our hearts at LR. Brian’s friend, Dr. Rabbi Joseph Edelheit, started Living India to serve and educate the people of India about HIV/AIDS, to care for those who are sick and dying, and to support those family members left behind, especially children.

Based in Chandrakal, in the state of Andhra Pradesh in south India, the charity’s orphanage currently nurtures 48 AIDS orphans who themselves are HIV-positive. Our donation will go towards things like school supplies, play equipment, medicine and food for these children. To learn more, please visit www.livingindia.org.
