Good Things Come to Those Who Wait

Category: Exclusives, News

Coming fresh from the well-received runway show are the Anna peep-toe platform and the Louise open-toe pump.  It's no secret how much we respect and adore the work of designers Jeffrey Costello and Robert Tagliapietra, so we like to think of these two styles created for their Fall/Winter 2010 Fashion Week presentation as little reminders of our admiration.  The good news is you won't have to wait 'til autumn to introduce them into your own closet - both styles are available now including exclusive colors.  Click here to shop the collaboration.

Backstage at Costello Tagliapietra

Category: Exclusives, News, Press

We were honored to collaborate with Jeffrey Costello and Robert Tagliapietra for their incredibly gorgeous FW 2010 collection. Here are some of Jessie's thoughts about the show:

"I am blown away by Robert and Jeffrey's talent. The garments were chic and effortless, but at the same time, they were incredibly intricate and innovative. You could see the detail of the stitching as the garments went down the runway. The collection took my breath away with its beauty. It would be a dream to have one of these beautiful pieces in my closet some day.

I loved the muted color palette. What was so interesting about it was that the palette was muted, but at the same time, the colors popped. The combination of colors, along with the way that our shoes were just a shade or two darker or lighter than the clothes worked really well.

Robert and I spoke after the show and he told me that he thought our collaborations worked well because we have a very similar aesthetic. I was very flattered by this comment, as I admire him and Jeffrey very much. He told me he particularly loved the woven platform shoe because it looked like a sculpture, a 'little woven monster'."

Here is a backstage shot of the girls about to walk the runway:

LR + Costello Tagliapietra 2010

Category: Exclusives, News, Press

LR partnered with Costello Tagliapietra for a second consecutive season Friday night, creating shoes for their Fall/Winter 2010 runway collection. Two styles from our Spring and Pre-Fall 2010 collections were featured in the show - the Anna woven platform (currently available for purchase here) and the Louise open toe pump (available April 2010 in exclusive runway colors at loefflerrandall.com).  Here are some of our favorite shots of the Anna shoe in tortora via Coutorture:

Jessie's Valentine's Day Gifts

Category: Exclusives, News, Press

I love Valentine's Day. When I was little, my mom had a big box decorated with hearts that we passed around the table each year. Inside were gifts for each of us, wrapped in tissue. The gifts were tokens, nothing extravagant. They were little expressions of love, my favorite kind of gift. Here's a list of some special things you might want to give and get this February 14th:

My Life in Paris by Julia Child: Every year Julia Child and her husband Paul sent out creative, silly valentines to all their friends. You can learn more about their joyful and loving relationship in this book about their time together living in France.

Red and White Straws: My boys love to drink from these special 'Valentine's Straws' on February 14th.

Individual Valentine Candy Boxes: Learn how to make these matchbox candy boxes at Inchmark, one of my most favorite mommy blogs. Blogger Brooke is a former editor at Martha Stewart and she is full of creative, visually pleasing projects for little ones.

Tom's Shoes: A pair of Tom's in Valentine's red. I love to see my husband, Brian, walking around in these comfy (and really, these are some of the most comfortable shoes ever made), cute, red shoes. Best of all, for every pair of shoes Tom's sells, they send a free pair to children in need.

Prime Meats: Treat your honey to a special meal, complete with homemade heart-shaped soft pretzels, at one of my favorite romantic restaurants, Prime Meats in Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn.

Wishing Wall: Write your wishes on colorful slips of paper, roll them up and place them in this recycled cardboard wall by Cardboard Design and watch your wishes come true.

Potted Plant from Tiny Park Flowers: Tiny Park Flowers specializes in potted plants and flowers for delivery in Brooklyn and Manhattan. These super chic potted plants are actually greener than cut flowers because they last longer and continue to grow.  I love this ornamental oregano plant with a subtle hint of pink for Valentine's Day. Order by Feb 7th for Valentine's delivery.

Black Jet Bakery Cookies: Made by one of my childhood best friends, Gillian Shaw, these chocolate chip and sea salt cookies are taking San Francisco by storm.

Kids Cooking Set
: This set of an apron, oven mitt and rolling pin comes just in time for your little one to help you make some heart shaped sugar cookies. Plus the color scheme couldn't be more perfect.

Lingerie from The Lake and Stars: Any girl would love something special from The Lake and Stars. This line is so beautiful, modern and elegant. Plus, the brand campaign on their website is amazing.

A Few of My Favorite Things

I love to give gifts to the people in my life. But sometimes it can feel overwhelming to find exactly the right thing. Here are some gifts I'll be giving this year from my most favorite stores, designers and authors. Hope you enjoy! xo, Jessie

FIFI LAPIN 'GEEK' ILLUSTRATION. Fifi is the chicest bunny ever. I collect these beautiful illustrations:  http://www.iheartfifilapin.com

A YEAR OF BEEKMAN 1802 SOAPS. I use these soaps made by our friends Josh Kilmer-Purcell and Dr. Brent Ridge every day. The soaps are handmade from the milk of Josh and Brent's goats on their 200 year old upstate New York farm :

J LINGNAU 'JOSEPHINE' STACKING BANGLES: Brian has given me four of my friend Joanna's elegant stacking rings. Now I want to move on to the bangles.

ALPHABET TOTE FROM VILLAGE: Our friends Tracy and Chester Jenkins made the "for like ever" poster that we have on our mantel and that was featured in Domino magazine. Now I tote around this alphabet bag from their company, Village. The perfect diaper tote for new moms:

MENS WALLETS FROM IL BISONTE: Men are particularly hard to find gifts for. I love the simple wallets from Il Bisonte, a company based in Italy near where we make our shoes. I love the elegant, spare functionality of these wallets and grain of the leather. I have given these wallets to Brian and my father and they both love them:

SWANS ISLAND BLANKETS: These blankets, hand-woven in Maine, are a total splurge. It would require saving up, but a Swan Island blanket would be such a special gift for a loved one:

STYLE ROOKIE ORGANIC TEE: I think these shirts of Tavi are really cute:

GRAPHIC NOVEL: I am really into graphic novels. I just finished reading the incredibly heavy, but wonderful, autobiographical graphic novel 'A Drifting Life' by Yoshihiro Tatsumi. This book or another comic book from Rocketship in Brooklyn makes a good gift for just about anybody:

ADDRESS FILE: One of my favorite blogs is by a mom and graphic designer named Sharilyn. Her blog, Lovely Design, chronicles her life with her adorable daughter, Adelaide, and all the wonderful things they make together. Sharilyn crafts and sells these gorgeous address files in small, thoughtful batches:

TRADER JOE'S CANDY CANE COOKIES: Now that we have a Trader Joe's in Brooklyn, I eagerly await the Candy Cane Joe Joe's cookies each holiday. They are like Oreos with chopped up candy cane in the filling. Yum! Perfect gift for the neighbors:

CAT HAT FROM PIPSQUEAK CHAPEAU: My little guys wear these hats and get quite a reaction from people on the street. These hats are so beautiful and special....plus they come with a built-in scarf:

EDDIE BORGO EARRINGS: I don't think these are available til early Spring, but I had to include them on the list. They remind me so much of the jewelry our stylist used on the shoot for our Spring 2010 brand campaign (coming soon!):
