Tell us a little about yourself and what brought you to NYC?

I grew up in Surrey, not far from London. I first came to the states after graduating from university in 2000, when I was offered a junior placement at a printed textile studio in New York. I loved NYC but felt very young at 20 to be so far from home, so after 6 months I moved back to London to work in the same field there. After a few years, when a position came up, I thought I’d try New York life again, and I’ve been lucky enough to work as a printed textile designer here since then!

We're obsessed with your floral paintings and prints - where is your favorite flower spot in the world? Is there one you haven't been to yet that you're dying to visit?

I was very lucky to have a mother and grandmother who loved to garden so my introduction to flora started very early. Some of my favorite flowers to paint were probably inspired by memories from this time. I always visit Wisley gardens when I go home, it’s close to where I grew up and is a favorite day trip. One day I’m going to see the cherry blossoms in Japan during springtime.

Fill us in on Woking Girl Designs, the genesis of the company and what you're up to these days?

Woking Girl Designs is a printed textile studio, we are based in Brooklyn, NY and work to deliver unique, original prints to fashion and interior houses worldwide. New and exciting ventures are in the works for our own interiors line, a dream of mine for many years! As well as this I have my own line of scarves under the ‘Dealtry’ brand.

How did you originally discover Loeffler Randall?

I tried on a pair of the Matilde boots in Bergdorf Goodman back in 2006, and was smitten. I loved that they had no zip, still looked fitted and had the vibe of a great vintage boot done in a modern, clean way.

How was it collaborating with Jessie on our SS14 custom printed shoes and handbags? We're in love with how well they came out!

Such a fun collaboration!! Jessie had a strong vision of the kind of story she wanted for the collection, and had seen my hand-painted designs and felt it would be a good fit! We met to the discuss possible color palettes, scales and imagery. Then I set to work painting the print using the framework Jessie provided. Such a joy to work on this project!

Describe your personal style to us, what do you wear when at work, painting or just relaxing?

Mainly borrowed from the boys for basic layering--I love a great shirt and jeans combo. I use statement jewelry to fem-up casual sweaters, and am fond of a good hat and an interesting shoe when I want to pull an outfit together. I’m really into jumpsuits for the warmer months when i’m painting in the studio, my collection of vintage onesies is growing. I love the soft, worn in cotton of my floral 1980’s number and if I get paint on it all the better!

How would you say Loeffler Randall shoes match to your lifestyle and aesthetic?

I love that I can wear my LR shoes and feel like they both complement and give my outfit an edge. I never feel like they are wearing me and yet they pack their own design punch. They are beautifully made and are the kind of shoes I want 2 pairs of in case I ever lose one!

Do you have any upcoming escapes planned this season?

All my fingers are crossed for a trip to St Barts in May. If not there, somewhere my LR citrus espadrilles will feel at home please!

Your perfect weekend is...

An early start with a great breakfast. Walking with friends and dogs in the countryside, anywhere near water. Later cooking and eating outside, live music and night dancing under stars.
